Our SaaS ERP, Lyterati, offers on-demand BI on the cloud, also called SaaS BI. The price of the BI subscription is built into the price of the ERP subscription. This bundled approach is an attractive offering to our customers who have come to expect BI as a natural and integral part of any ERP that they adopt. We've been using this model for two years and am pleased to say that BI on the cloud works.
Our clients typically have one or more BI technologies attached to their ERPs or their enterprise data warehouses. With Lyterati being on the cloud, the idea of bringing the data from the cloud into the client's in-house environment is not a strategy that appeals to us or our clients. Instead, being able to slice and dice the Lyterati data on the cloud is very appealing.
So far we have used two technologies keeping in mind that the market has a certain threshold for the subscription cost. In the earlier versions of Lyterati, we integrated Pentaho with our cloud offering and served our users an inventory of standard reports and views. Our users leveraged this BI content for specific queries as well as for longitudinal analysis and compliance reporting. All in all Pentaho offered the basic BI that we needed in these early versions.
As the level of sophistication increased in our BI offerings and with multi-tenancy demands, we have moved to Jaspersoft. This has allowed us to bundle dashboards and an ad hoc reporting environment to offer a full complement of BI content to our customers. In the near future as we transition to NOSQL databases, Jaspersoft positions us to integrate with big data sources. Recognized as one of Deloitte's Fast 500 companies in 2013, Jaspersoft with over 280% growth between 2008 and 2012 and a customer base of 130,000 clients is definitely worth a look if you are in the market for a good alternative to pricey offerings from the likes of IBM and Microsoft. Over the last few years, Jaspersoft has steadily moved closer to the center of the Gartner BI magic quadrant making it a worthy contender.
You can't go wrong with SaaS BI. Cost is the primary consideration and constraint.
